Leslie Bruce Wilner

Leslie Bruce Wilner, age 92, of Sevierville, TN., passed away at home on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Bruce was born in Tower City, North Dakota and was the son of Stanley and Marian Sorlie Wilner. He was a Mechanical Engineer and worked in Aerospace. In addition to his parents, Bruce is preceded in death by his brother Stanley and sister MaryAnn.

While pursuing his dreams of becoming a Mechanical Engineer, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his Master’s degree from Stanford University. Over the years, he had numerous patents in his name: 17 for Endevco, two for Lockheed, and one for Los Alamos National Laboratory. Bruce loved standard poodles, history books, traveling, going to the theater, listening to classical music, wood carving, gardening, fishing, and rock tumbling. He made it a practice to read the newspaper and walk 1 mile every day. Bruce was married to Elinor for more than 60 years before her passing in 2017 and together, they lived a full life in Palo Alto, CA. They loved living there and loved the life they built there. They enjoyed many social events in Palo Alto and because of Elinor and her interests, he was able to go many places. One of their favorite places to visit was Sweden, as they went many times.

Bruce is survived by his son and daughter in law Eric and Joy Wilner, his granddaughter Lorene, and sister Laura.
