John “Ray” Walker passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, at his home in Sevierville, Tennessee, on Christmas Eve. Ray was a devoted father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother, caring uncle, and a friend to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His warm smile, easygoing nature, and thoughtful heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his generosity and willingness to help others, Ray had a special way of making people feel valued. Life was richer with Ray in it, and he will be deeply missed.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Robbie and Joe. He is lovingly remembered by his children, John (Maria) and Heather; his four grandchildren, Daniel, Alan, Alex, and Alyssa; his former wife and devoted caregiver, Sonia, with whom he maintained a close and lifelong friendship; as well as his surviving brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Family was the center of Ray’s world, and he treasured every shared moment—celebrating milestones, telling stories, and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
A devoted football fan, Ray delighted in cheering for the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes, savoring every touchdown and play with spirited joy. The loving care Sonia provided during his later years reflected the deep respect and bond they shared. Ray’s life was marked by laughter, unwavering devotion to his family, and a generous spirit.
Ray had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His presence brought joy wherever he went, and his warmth and kindness created connections that will be remembered always. The love, laughter, and treasured memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Miami, Florida. Details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests prayers in Ray’s memory.
