John Allen Gilliam

John Allen Gilliam Sr., 55, of Greenback, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 26th 2024. John was born in Knoxville, TN and served almost 8 years in the Army National Guard. He had a passion for football, music, and building things. He found moments of joy playing the piano and singing for other people. 

John is preceded in death by his parents Oscar Gilliam and Anna Maples (nee Williams); friends Paul Jones and Michael Oates.

He is survived by his spouse Charina Gilliam; children Elizabeth Lutes, John Gilliam Jr., Rohn Gilliam, Alicia “Lisa” Collins (Jacob), Katlynn Gilliam, and Wyatt Gilliam; brothers and sisters Mary Singleton, Cathy Irwin Gilliam, David Gilliam, Ronnie Gilliam, and Nancy Martin; many grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and friends Amanda Mckee (Chivona and Dennis), Franklyn Rush (Teresa), and Giovanni Alastra.

John leaves behind a legacy of resilience, reminding us all of the varied paths life can take. May he rest in peace, and may his family find healing in his memory. Services will be held at The Abbey located at 7765 River Rd, Townsend, TN 37882 on Sunday, June 9th, 2024. Start time will be at 5pm, eulogy at 5:30, and fellowship with family and friends at 6pm.
