Jerry Lynn Murrell Sr., age 75 of South Knoxville went to his heavenly home on May 5th after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. When Jerry crossed over to his home in eternity, he had waiting with open arms, his son; Bo Murrell, his parents; Clarence Murrell and Barbara Loveday, several siblings and many other loving family members.
Jerry was loved by all who knew him. He served in the U.S. Army, was retired from the post office and spent most of his recent days finding treasures to sell at the antique mall. He loved UT sports and enjoyed playing golf. His greatest accomplishments in life were his family, coaching baseball and being a role model and mentor to young men. He never forgot a name or a face. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, had a very competitive spirit and a smile that could light up a room. Jerry will be sorely missed to all who knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 52 years, Janice Murrell; his daughter Tressa (Kelly) Farr; his grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Jon Murrell and Veda Farr; plus his two canine companions; Hell’n and Lola. He also leaves behind three sisters; Gail Fox, Kay Adams, Jenny Logan, sister-in-law: Sylvia Loveday, brothers-in-law: Jim Price and Junior Price and many other family members and friends.
Jerry’s family will receive friends on Tuesday May 14, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN. 37920.
Jerry will be laid to rest after a military salute at the East TN Veteran’s Cemetery at 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy on Wednesday May 15 at 10:00 am.
