On July 7, 2024, our mother, Mom, Mama, Gloria, passed away and took with her pieces of our hearts. She was 67. She was born in Sylvania, Ohio on April 18,1957, to Orval and Alice Mahlman. Her parents were her idols - she loved them without end. Family was so important to her - nothing was thicker and more binding than blood. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen, her parents, her sisters Ruthann and Kathy, her brothers Sonny and Wade, and her infant daughter Loretta Webb.
Gloria leaves behind two loving daughters Amanda Webb and Allison Webb, two nephews Tim Fisher and Tom Fisher, sister Dawn Mahlman. her niece and friend Debbie, and a number of nieces and nephews. Their hearts will always be full of many loving memories.
She married Allen in 1978, and they had three girls. One left this earth during child birth. Allen passed away in 2004. She became our only family left, our rock. Mom loved her daughters blindly, we did no wrong (unless it was choosing her gifts), and even when we would admit we were wrong, she would still fight to the death and say we were in the right.
She loved the color blue, music, movies, her dogs, onions on everything she ate, coloring (she said a box of new crayons was the best smell in the world), and photos. Photos were her memories, her family still with her in front of her eyes, right up until the end.
She could be cantankerous and stubborn - so, so stubborn - but you never doubted her heart was filled with love and her loyalties were always with you. From her first battle with breast cancer in 1994 when she was only 37, she lived the rest of her life with health issues and pain. Yet she still found joy in life, with her daughters and her beloved dogs, and she kept going, kept providing for us because she knew we needed her here.
Sunday night, as she continued to fight to the background melodies of her favorite music, we had to finally swallow our own selfishness and tell her we will be okay, she can stop fighting and let go. It was the first time in a long time we saw her beautiful face at peace.
She wanted no service, just to be cremated and brought home. We will respect her wishes.
Gloria’s obituary was written by her loving family.
