Douglas Cooper Obituary

Douglas (Tommy) Cooper, born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away at his home in Clinton on May 8th , 2025.

As known by his family and friends, Tommy, spent his life supporting his immediate and extended family through his love and dedication to them. Tommy was a patriot through and through and was never shy about sharing his love for his country, displaying American Eagles and American Flags for all to see. He will be remembered for his patriotism, his love of country music, his knowledge of small engines and his ability to make anyone laugh at any moment.

Tommy will also be remembered as his sister, Debra Cooper’s side kick. Since childhood, Tommy and Debbie had a very special relationship that they carried into their adulthood. Very rarely would one be seen without the other. Now, Tommy is back in his rightful place by his sister’s side, watching over his nieces and nephews as if they were his own and listening to a little Hank Williams while he watches his great-nieces and great-nephews go through life with his memory.

Tommy was proceeded in death by his loving parents, Cora Phillips Cooper and Oscar Cooper; siblings, Roger Cooper, Sharon Cooper, Benjamin Cooper, Josie Cooper Hightower and Debra Cooper; nieces, Ada Cooper and Jerrie Lynne Cooper; great- niece Rayne Elizabeth Cooper.

Tommy is survived in death by his sister, Shirley Martin; nephews Sherman Cooper (Amanda Cooper), Joseph Cooper; niece, Corrina Cooper (Jerry Taylor II); great- nephews Cody Cooper (Annatasha Cooper), Jerry Taylor III, Logan Sexton, Blake Cooper, Chandler Cooper (Makayla), Lukas Byrge and Levi Byrge; great-nieces, Danielle Cooper, Kimberlie Cooper Stewart and Shianne Taylor.

The Cooper family will always remember Tommy and miss him dearly, but they find peace in knowing he has been reunited with the family that proceeded him to heaven.

A joint celebration of life will be held for Tommy and his sister, Debra Cooper, at the Clinton Church of God on Sunday, May 25th , 2025 with receiving of friends beginning at 3PM and a service to follow at 5PM.
